Description
Enjoy a 2-hour tail boat journey in Bangkok. Meet your guide at Tha Maharaj Shopping mall and visit the old city of Thonburi, an independent province until it was merged with Bangkok in 1971. Many of the traditional small waterways and klongs still exist there. Experience the local way of living, rarely seen from the other side of town. Then, visit the Royal Barge Museum to see how the kings of Thailand had pageants on the water on special occasions. Discover the Royal Barges, damaged during the bombing raids of the Second World War, restored by King Bhumibol Rama IX. The National Museum of Royal Barge opened in 1972 and 8 out of 51 Royal Barges can be seen there. Make your last stop at Wat Arun, known as The Temple of Dawn due to the beautiful reflections of the sun in the glazed ceramic tiles. Marvel at the beauty of one of the most important temples of Thailand's history. See the central prang, a stupa-like pagoda decorated with colorful glazed porcelain tiles and seashells, giant statues, the Ordination Hall, the Bell Tower, and many Buddha statues that have been there for hundreds of years. At the end of the journey, transfer back to Maharaj pier and continue your evening in Bangkok.Includes
