The atmosphere is bright and perfect for dining with a group. The food has an excellent variety, and every single dish is delicious. The portion sizes are ideal for sharing among 3 to 4 people. However, the drink selection is quite limited, and the restrooms could use some improvement.

We came to try out Aunglo after watching some influencers videos, but were unfortunately quite disappointed with the experience, especially since it was marketed as michelin. The flavours seem to cater more to the western diners or izakaya style, if you compare to the average sweet, sour and spicy flavours of general Thai cuisine. We were surprised with the vegetable and meat dishes, which had really strong smokey flavours, but wished there were stronger thai flavours that went with it. It felt more burnt than wok-hei. Some dishes had duplicated components, like the barbequed meat with the cabbages, and the staff was kind enough to let us know that in advance. However, it took us a while to understand until the dish never came, and we realized that they were waiting for us to make a decision. The food was good, but it did not wow us, probably because we have a heavier palate. It might work better for western or japanese diners.

You might want to make a reservation in advance, as the place has limited seating and mainly entertains customers with pre-booked slots. We ordered the Yum Som-O (Pomelo Salad), and surprisingly it tasted really good and sweet. I didn’t get the usual slight bitterness you would normally expect from pomelo. Next, we tried the Chinese Style Barbeque Pork — it was so delicious that we ended up ordering a second plate! Another must-order is Aunglo’s Moo-Ping. The flavor is quite different from the typical moo-ping you find at night markets. This version has a more balanced taste and isn’t overly sweet. As for the environment and ambience, it’s quite minimalist and simple, nothing too fancy, but still comfortable enough for a nice meal.

Visited this Michelin-starred gem in the Silom area quite by accident, and it turned out to be a memorable culinary experience. The restaurant’s concept is immediately striking — an open, intimate setup where the chefs are quite literally within arm’s reach, preparing and grilling dishes right in front of you. This close interaction with the kitchen adds a theatrical and highly engaging element to the meal, especially for those who appreciate the craft behind each dish. The menu leans heavily into a grill-focused style, with precise execution and exceptional ingredient quality evident throughout. Portion sizes are on the smaller side, which is typical for this category, so I would strongly recommend opting for multiple courses (at least 3–4 or more) to fully appreciate the experience. That said, the quality of each dish is outstanding, and it is easy to understand why the restaurant has earned its reputation. One aspect that was slightly underwhelming, however, was the service. While efficient, it felt somewhat impersonal — there was minimal engagement from the staff, and little effort to check in on the dining experience or gather feedback. For a restaurant of this caliber, a more attentive and interactive service approach would elevate the experience significantly. The beverage program is well-rounded, offering a selection of craft beers and wines that pair nicely with the menu. Reservations are reportedly in high demand, and the dining operates within a structured two-hour seating window. Interestingly, during my visit, the restaurant appeared relatively quiet, which made the limited availability somewhat surprising. Overall, this is a restaurant I would certainly recommend for its unique concept and exceptional food quality. With a slight refinement in service, it has the potential to deliver a truly world-class dining experience.

From wow to more wow. Every dish has their own distinct flavor. Only fall short was the chicken skewer. Highly recommend everything else. We had a good time. But hopefully and understandably they are a busy restaurant. It would be good if they pace the serving slower. Too fast such that food turns cold while we enjoy the earlier served food. Nice draft beer selection too. Advance booking recommended
