Wat Arun or The Temple of Dawn
Bangkok
Located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, Wat Arun also know as The Temple of Dawn, is one of Bangkok's most famous landmarks.
Set close to the banks of the river the temple is full of graceful beauty while the busy river traffic drifts by. The temple can be accessed via boat which provides outstanding views as you pass by in the centre of the river before you have the chance to disembark and explore at your own pace.
It is hard to imagine the sheer scale of the building until you are standing at the foot of the very first step. Each level you climb, the incline becomes greater. Eventually the steps are fiercely steep and extremely difficult to climb. But the views of the surrounding area from the top make the struggle worthwhile.
There is no bad time of day to see this iconic building but if you want to see it at its peak get up early to beat the crowds or take a river cruise during sunset. Which ever option you choose be sure to have your camera at hand for stunning photo opportunities.
Opening Times:
Monday - Sunday - 08.00am - 5.30pm
