Local crawl tips

If you’re thinking of hitting up a pub crawl in Bangkok, timing really makes a difference. Start early , like around 7 or 8 PM. That way you catch happy hours, avoid long lines, and get a feel for each spot without the weekend crush. Also, grab something to eat nearby in between bars, especially street food; it’s cheap and keeps you going.

One place I always recommend is Cheap Charlie’s on Sukhumvit Soi 23 for a casual, inexpensive start. It’s a bit rough around the edges but the vibe is unique and it’s a Bangkok institution. From there, try hopping over to Soi Nana in Chinatown at some point , its bar scene has this cool mix of retro and modern that most tourists miss.

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions about pub crawls in Bangkok? Here’s what you need to know.

Absolutely, but stick to popular areas like Sukhumvit or Silom and keep an eye on your stuff. Locals are usually friendly, but like anywhere, a bit of street smarts doesn’t hurt.
You can definitely do your own thing if you’re comfortable navigating the spots. Organized crawls are good if you want to meet people and have someone plan the route, but I love the freedom of picking bars as I go.
Friday or Saturday nights are the liveliest, but if you prefer a less packed scene, Thursday can be surprisingly good , you’ll still find plenty of places open with fewer crowds.
Soi 11 on Sukhumvit is a classic jump-off spot with everything from casual bars to rooftop lounges. Start there, then wander over to nearby alleys where smaller but cool bars hide.
Most casual bars are relaxed, but some upscale places in Thonglor or rooftop bars might ask for smart casual , no flip-flops or sportswear, just to be safe.
Most pubs and bars close between 1 and 2 AM, though some clubs go on until 3 or 4. If you want to keep going late, checking opening hours in advance helps.
