Asiatique The Riverfront

Bangkok

Attractions

Beautifully located along the main waterway of Bangkok, the Chao Phraya River, Asiatique The Riverfront is the latest tourist and lifestyle destination in Bangkok and home to boutique shops, restaurants and bars, as well as renowned shows and live events.

A waterfront pathway reveals the beauty of this riverside location which opens just before sunset until late at night. The Asiatique is a restored 100 year old teak pier surrounded by the architecture of the reign of King Rama V, from a time when Thailand retained its sovereignty during a period of colonisation. The Chao Phraya River is an evocative, beautiful part of the city at night and a place where there is still a feeling of the Thailand of old and where modern Bangkok really glitters.

The 1,500 boutiques at Asiatique The Riverfront are located in four distinct areas with Thai tourist style shops, fashion boutiques in a refurbished sawmill in the 'Factory District', as well as a town square area where East meets West, alongside shops lining the longest river-front pathway in Thailand at 300 metres. There are also textile and home décor shops as well as outlets offering accessories.

Many of the 40 bars and restaurants have views out over the river, and the complex also has a beer garden too, with places to stop off for a drink, bite to eat, or full meal, with cuisines from all over the world. The mix of drinking, eating and shopping is a perfect combination for a night out in Bangkok that is relaxed and fun and where nighttime temperatures drop but hardly plummet. It is a good choice for families too who do not want to tackle busy roads and crammed pavements, but prefer to saunter along the river.

The Joe Louis Puppet Theatre is a renowned attraction in Bangkok and seeing folk tales told through traditional puppetry in a riverside location adds an extra holiday feel to a shopping and dining out experience. The Calypso Cabaret is a glamorous institution in Thailand for stunning shows and interesting performers.

With an outdoor activity area and five stages, Asiatique manages to be more than a bar, restaurant and retail complex, and the riverside location with its attractive walkway and attractive architectural style adds extra visitor appeal, making it a pleasant and relaxed eating and shopping experience. Asiatique is also a new attraction to Bangkok and real attention has been given to the design, layout and outlets.
