A very individual chain of restaurants in Thailand that promotes family planning and activities associated with the Population and Community Development Association (PDA); the majority of profit generated by Cabbages and Condoms (C & C) is unselfishly put back into research. On entering the Bangkok restaurant; conveniently located in a famous business district for maximum attention, a handicraft shop is the entrance where souvenirs are sold for further funding for their many projects. The restaurant is appropriately decorated with condoms from around the world, and tables are located under the illuminated canopy, on a decking area, and also inside in one of their air conditioned rooms.
The restaurant menu is dominated by typical Thai dishes that are moderately priced. A healthy selection of vegetarian dishes, meats, and fish are listed on the menu, usually accompanied by seasonal vegetables and Thai sauce. Alternatively a set menu is available for small groups of 5 or more who can socially share a variety of dishes. And for large groups of 50 or more C & C will put on a buffet style feast which varies in price depending on which menu you select from. Customers are given the luxury to bring their own beverages; there is a small corkage fee. On leaving C & C there are no complimentary mints; instead condoms are handed out to all of the diners.
