Bangkok's streets are manic at the best of times, with street vendors and taxi or tuk-tuk drivers all trying to grab your attention. If you've had enough of it all and want a new way of getting around the city why don't you head underground and try out Bangkok's MRT?
The MRT opened in late 2004 and now boasts 18 underground stations. With many access points around the city and most tourist areas and attractions in close proximity to a station it couldn't be easier to get around. While the streets are a maze above ground, the underground system is relatively easy to tackle.
If you want a ticket, visit a counter at one of the stations, but this only applies to tickets for the same or next day. For other enquiries you will have to locate the advanced booking office.
