It took ages between dishes, and that ruined the experience more than how one bad food could be. (for the record, it took around 110 minutes to reach the Kub-Kao) The food quality was stable, yet lacking real surprises that I could shout exceptional except for the signature egg yolk one. The server was friendly and enthusiastic, yet I think he was a bit overloaded that he missed asking me my selection of the Kuh-Kao earlier. (don't mistake me, he is the real TREASURE in the house!) Plus, I don't know whether it was a protocol problem or just everyone being too busy that no one came to wipe the sauce left on the table cloth until the very last dish. Ambience-wise, a bit noisy for a solo diner. Overall, not too bad, but not exceptional.
Experience started off great in a lovely heritage building just next to the BTS station. The amuse bouche and the various starters were fabulous. Enjoyed the fried gourami, soft shell crab, soup and crab dumpling. The main course which was visually stunning, however was slightly disappointing. We cannot understand the hype around the egg dish. We wanted to enjoy it very much but it didn’t manage to capture either flavour or texture properly. Except the main course which was just ok, everything else including the dessert was great.
A remarkable Thai fine dining experience with exquisite flavors, beautiful presentation, and impeccable service. Every course told a story and highlighted the best of Thailand’s culinary heritage. Highly recommended.
An absolute marathon of a meal at Wana Yook! massive 12+ courses of elevated, contemporary Thai, was honestly more than my belly could handle! The experience opens with the chef sharing the magic behind the first two bites. It sets the stage for a spectacular flavour journey across the country, showcasing rich, complex curries packed with vibrant herbs that are bold, uncompromised and brilliantly intense. Menu is definitely better suited to palates with a bit more Asian exposure, as processing such an intense sensory overload in one sitting can get a touch overwhelming if you are not used to spice. Fortunately, they very thoughtfully serve a lifesaver coconut ice cream to rescue firing taste buds, such a thoughtful gesture! 👍🏼 If u r a local thai food lover, u will love this place! Tip: Start dinner early because you’re going to be there for a while.
Had a lovely dinner there. Food was tasty and the herbs/spices used were just right and did not overpower the dish. Dishes were well presented but not pretentious. Asked for regular spiciness level and while it was bearable and the food was still enjoyable, I think mild spiciness would have been perfect for me.
