Description
Dive into traditional Thai culture at a Sak Yant, or sacred tattoo, ceremony at Wat Bang Phra, a Buddhist monastery around 50 kilometers west of Bangkok. Enjoy hotel pickup and drop-off, learn about the ceremony from your guide, and receive a holy tattoo from a Buddhist monk/tattoo master. After pickup at your hotel, drive with your licensed guide in an air-conditioned vehicle toward Wat Bang Phra. Upon arrival, prepare for a unique experience at a temple known for its daily tattoos, or Sak Yant, given by the local monks, a tradition that dates back hundreds of years. Before getting your tattoo done, receive a traditional Wai Kru set of an incense stick, flower, and candles that demonstrates respect and gratitude. Then, begin your holy tattoo ceremony with a Buddhist monk, a rare experience only provided to a handful of people per day. During the ceremony, you’ll receive a Gao Yord Yant, or 9 Spires Yant, a sacred tattoo believed to protect and bring good luck to the bearer, like another Sak Yant design, the Hah Taew Yant. It’s usually tattooed on the nape of the neck. Hear about the geometric design of the 9 Spires Yant and how it represents the 9 Sacred Peaks of Mount Meru from your guide. With its 9 symbolic images of Buddha, it demonstrates how important the number 9 is in Buddhism After getting tattooed, return to Bangkok for drop-off at your hotel.Includes
