Watermark
Bangkok
Watermark is a contemporary restaurant in the well-to-do, hip residential part of town just off Thong Lor, a restaurant and bar hub for the young, flash and fancy of Bangkok. Watermark has more than a touch of class and yet the menu has no airs and graces, offering classic Italian bistro dishes and a good selection of pizzas and pastas for a simple lunch or dinner. Outside the restaurant is a green garden patio with a pond, which adds to the relaxed atmosphere at Watermark, as well as creating an attractive setting too.
Next door, adjoining Club Nove is a cool nightclub style bar with a wine lounge style ambience and décor and is a good setting for pre-dinner cocktails, or a post-dinner drink in a more late night atmosphere. Being a restaurant with a club bar attached - offering a completely different vibe - gives Watermark a fashionably retro feel.
The pasta dishes at Watermark are mid-range prices and offer classics such as carbonara and Bolognese, as well as some interesting dishes which are a little more inventive, such as black squid ink tagliatelle with tiger prawns in a slow cooked tomato guazetto sauce, and monkfish and potato ravioli with a white wine sauce, and salty pressed fish roe, bottarga. The pizzas offer no real surprises and the prices match what you might expect for a mid-range restaurant too.
Watermark is a quality Italian restaurant in Bangkok which serves both simple home-cooked classics and more creative dishes in a contemporary setting. The laid-back but well-to-do eatery is ideal for couples enjoying a night out, although the atmosphere is more suited to stylish dining than those looking for a lively, raucous restaurant affair.
