Transport - Taxis
Bangkok has thousands of air-conditioned metered taxis and they are one of the cheapest forms of transport to use. You can stop them on the street if they have a red light on in the widescreen and the start of the journey is 35 baht.
It helps if you know your destination in Bangkok and if you have a map, this will aid you as well. Many taxi drivers speak a little English, so if you are able to get the destination written down by your hotel or the restaurant in Thai, this will obviously help as well.
Once you are on your way, the meter will tick over at about 10 bht per 2kms travelled or 1.5 bht per minute if you are stuck in traffic and not moving.
