Brown Sugar
Bangkok
Brown Sugar: The Jazz Boutique has been up and running since 1985, bringing the best of local and international jazz musicians to the Thai capital. Having recently relocated to Phrasumen Road, the new venue has the capacity to welcome over 200 people, yet retains its cosy feel and relaxed ambience. The stage is small and allows for a truly intimate musical experience.
Chill out with a Chang at the bar, or take a look at the menu for a selection of traditional Thai meals as well as a range of Western dishes. During the day Brown Sugar is a restaurant and coffee house, so you can make the most of the venue, day or night. The owner Pongrat Meesaiyaat is huge jazz enthusiast himself (he also plays the drums) and is passionate about sharing his love of the genre with locals and tourists alike.
Try to coincide your visit with the 'Brown Sugar Showcase' - a monthly event which sees live performances of international and touring acts at the boutique on the last Friday and Saturday of each month.
