Description

Embark on a guided or a self-guided temple tour of ancient temples in Ayutthaya Province. After picking up from your hotel (early morning), drive around 1 hour to the Ayutthaya province where you will stop first at the Bang Pa - In Palace. After gazing through the beautiful palace, head inside the center of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province. Visit one of the city’s landmarks, Wat Yai Chai Mongkol which was built in 1357 for monks ordained and trained at the Monastery of Phra Wanaratanathen in Sri Lanka. After the visit, you can go for a lunch meal at a nearby Thai restaurant. Continue to Wat Phra Si Sanphet which is comprised of dozens of structures built for royal usage only, including three large elegant bell-shaped pagodas standing on an elevated platform. Adjacent to Wat Phra Si Sanphet, Viharn Pra Mongkolborpit houses a gigantic Buddha image. The gilded bronze Buddha image at the attitude of Subduing Mara is 40 feet high. Then head to Wat Mahathat once enshrined Buddha relics and was the seat of the Supreme Patriarch of Buddhism. Most visitors come here for the head of Buddha sculpture that is encircled by the tree’s roots.  Later visit one of Ayutthaya's most impressive temples, the Khmer-style Wat Chaciwatthanaram, located opposite the south-west corner of the Historical Island on the other side of the Chao Phraya River. An optional boat ride to the temple offers nice vies of the large, well-preserved temple. Then off to the car and return to the hotel in Bangkok city.
