Description
Paint with hot wax onto a cotton scarf, resist the areas, dye them with a watercolor-like technique — create flowy, pastel-soft artwork on your textile. That's batik, one of the oldest textile techniques in Southeast Asia.
At GIGIPAYNE Studio in Bangkok, you plan your motif with your instructor, then pick up a tjanting tool — a small pen with a copper cup that holds melted wax — and draw directly onto the scarf. The concept is fully yours. Once your wax lines are set, you dye the cotton with brushes, building up color, contrast, and soft gradients. Nothing is pre-made or stamped. Every line comes from your hand. Feel the focus, the rhythm, and the calm.
No experience needed. Your instructor guides you through every step at your own pace. All materials are provided — soy wax, cotton, tjanting tools, brushes, and fabric dyes.
After the session, colors need 24 hours to set. The studio removes the wax and delivers your finished scarf to your hotel the next day. You leave with a hand-dyed cotton scarf (180×50 cm) featuring your own original batik pattern.
Workshop is for 1–8 participants. The studio is near Lumpini Park, a short walk from the MRT and OneBangkok.
