Begin with a 2-hour drive from Bangkok to Ayutthaya, the second capital of Siam founded around 1350. Explore the UNESCO-listed Ayutthaya Historical Park, featuring archaeological ruins of palaces, temples, monasteries, and statues.
Visit Wat Yai Chaimongkhon, built by King U-Thon in 1357, then walk through the Ayothaya Floating Market, a replicated market with over 100 stalls, where you have free time for lunch (own expense).
After lunch, tour Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, Ayutthaya’s grandest temple, and Wat Mahathat, famous for the Buddha’s head entwined in tree roots. Return to Bangkok in the early evening with drop-off near the original meeting point.
