Description
Meet your guide near Ayutthaya train station for a bike fitting before starting the tour. Tours run daily from 10:00, heading north through villages and rice paddies.
The ride includes a visit to a local elementary school (if open) and the historic Phaniat Royal Elephant Kraal, once used for capturing elephants for war and labor by Ayutthaya kings.
As you approach the old capital, you will see temple ruins before stopping for a Thai lunch at a riverside restaurant around 12:30.
After lunch, visit Wat Mahathat and Wat Phra Si Sanphet to learn about Ayutthaya’s history. Then, explore a local market featuring typical baked and fried delicacies.
The tour continues to the large reclining Buddha statue at Wat Lokayasutharam and then to Wat Chaiwatthanaram, built in 1630 as a memorial by King Prasat Thong.
Finally, follow the west bank of the Chao Phraya River to the pier, cross the river by boat, and return to the city where the tour ends.
