Description

This guided tour tells the historical story of Thailand’s most visited sites, the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, in an engaging way suitable for children.

The tour covers the origin and significance of the Emerald Buddha, including what it is made of and why it is named so. Visitors will learn what makes the Grand Palace temple unique compared to others.

The guide will introduce the mystical animals depicted in the temple and explain the beliefs around the king of birds and the king of serpents. The story behind the numerous Chinese stone dolls around the temple will be shared, including their origin, purpose, and the magic believed to surround them.

Inside the Ordination Hall, participants will see the three-meter-tall Buddhas and hear the story of a son’s gratitude towards his parents and grandfather. The tour includes sitting in a spot believed in Buddhism to be heaven on earth.

Attention is also given to the magic Bell Tower, which rings on rare occasions, and the 12 Demons who guard the Emerald Temple. Visitors will view selected mural paintings out of over 170 episodes in the gallery.

After exploring the temple, the group will walk past the Grand Palace, former residence of the kings and royal family, and visit the site where the future king stayed before his coronation.

The route includes the area once used as an elephant stable, now serving a surprising purpose. Before leaving, the tour passes old government offices and the royal lying-in-state location.

A break at the palace coffee shop offers children a drink, ice cream, and a Thai snack (ice cream and snacks are provided only with parental approval). The total tour duration is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, including the break.
