If you’re searching for a true “home away from home” in Bangkok—a place where you can genuinely relax and feel at peace even during the lively Songkran season—Au Samlor Guesthouse in Bang Rak is a hidden gem you shouldn’t miss. From the moment you arrive, you can feel how much care has gone into this cozy, well-preserved old house. It’s not just a place to stay—it feels personal, warm, and welcoming. The entire guesthouse is very clean and well-maintained, with strong water pressure and even bidets in the toilets, which makes a big difference after a long day out exploring the city. What really makes this place special are the thoughtful little touches. Guests are treated to complimentary coffee, alkaline water, and cookies—simple things, but they make you feel at home right away. They even offer a free one-time laundry service (up to 1 kilo), which is incredibly convenient, especially for longer stays. A huge part of the experience is the people. The manager, Patrapoom, is one of the friendliest and most cheerful hosts you could ever meet. He truly cares about his guests and goes out of his way to make sure you’re comfortable and well taken care of. He’s supported by two kind and helpful staff members who are always ready to assist with a smile. Their hospitality creates such a safe and welcoming atmosphere that it’s easy to settle in and just relax. Despite being tucked away in a quiet area, the location is still very convenient. Tourist spots and train access are within easy reach. You can hop on a Grab bike for a quick and affordable ride, or take a walk if you want to save money and explore the neighborhood. Taxis and tuk-tuks can be a bit expensive, so having these options is a plus. Just a couple of houses away, you’ll find a 7-Eleven beside a Shell gas station—perfect for quick essentials. And if you love local flavors, you’ll be happy to know there’s plenty of delicious street food nearby to enjoy. All in all, Au Samlor Guesthouse is more than just a place to stay—it’s a place where you can rest, feel safe, and be genuinely cared for. Highly, highly recommended for anyone visiting Bangkok who wants comfort, warmth, and a peaceful stay. ____________________________ Here’s a direction-focused guide to reach Au Samlor Guesthouse in Bang Rak, Bangkok: If you’re coming from most parts of Bangkok, the easiest reference point is the BTS Skytrain Silom Line. This guesthouse lives up to the pictures, it is a quiet oasis in the heart of the city's hustle and bustle, it’s convenient to go to Chinatown, Iconsiam, Siam Square, and even within walking distance of Samyan Mitrtown and Chulalongkorn University Night Market. This is a beautiful Thai-style building with enough parkings in the yard. Every corner is meticulously clean including the public restrooms and kitchen, that’s really a paradise for someone like me with OCD😉. The rooms are simply furnished with a cozy mattress and pillows, a quiet air conditioner, and good internet connection. The owner, Sunny who is dedicated to his work, he is patient, attentive, and respond swiftly. His staffs are responsible and hardworking, ensuring the guesthouse's comfort and cleanliness. In short, I'm incredibly fortunate to have found such a high-quality, affordable, and satisfying guesthouse; it will definitely be my go-to place when visiting Bangkok.
