Suggested Attire for Mourning Period of the Queen Mother (24 Oct, 2025 – 24 Jan, 2026) Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, passed away on 24 October 2025. This is a heavy loss for Thailand, and the Royal Thai Government has announced official mourning practices and suggested mourning attire guideline during the mourning period which lasts for 90 days. Although this is not enforced for foreign visitors, this attire is highly recommended as part of the respect for the local customs and traditions. Details are: During the mourning period, foreign visitors are encouraged to wear black or subdued colors (dark grey, navy blue, brown and white) and avoid bright, flashy, or festive colors such as red, yellow, pink, or neon tones. Modest and respectful clothing should be worn when visiting temples, royal sites or government buildings. Visitors are also encouraged to wear a black ribbon, which can be easily found when in Thailand, as a respectful gesture during this special period. You’ll begin your Bangkok tour by walking to the pier, where you’ll board a longtail boat down the Chao Phraya River, also known as the River of Kings. This river is also the reason why Bangkok is known as the ‘Venice of the East,’ and you’ll explore this nickname further as you glide through the network of khlongs, or canals. Then continue by heading over to the Grand Palace. Strolling through the palace grounds feels like walking through an Asian version of Alice in Wonderland. Your local guide will tell you all about the history behind the palace and the most sacred Buddhist temple in Thailand, Wat Phra Kaew. From one beautiful temple to another, you’ll move on to Wat Pho, another temple that is integral to the Buddhist religion in Thailand. It’s home to the famous golden reclining Buddha and is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage. Your tour will finish up at Wat Pho, from where you can continue to explore, or your local guide will be happy to give you directions back to your accommodation.Includes
