TRIP ONE: May 24-27 The staff are the crown jewel of this place. Helpful, kind, and you can’t help but get the home stay feeling. As if you are in their living room… the effort to make sure everyone is comfortable, and provided for was my ultimate take away. I am going back to get a bag I left in their lock storage as my island trip is bare bones. Another perk. They are 5 min walk to the metro, and the restaurants and massage spas are all short walk from the front gate. It is off a back street and shrouded in tree shade with enough room for everyone to find a place to be alone or congregate in community. I tried all the snacks: fries, wings, spring rolls, as well as the stocked drinks cooler. The breakfast was fruit and coffee and toast with butter and jam. It was the perfect light meal to start the day. Rooms are cool and clean with lockers and you can get fresh towels as needed. Great location but I wasn’t really exploring the city much so I gave that 4/5 stars. 30 mins to either airport and it was quiet with no traffic or noise from the street… set back but not packed into a backpackers set up. I’ll be back to get my stuff but will stay 2 nights to decompress before my next destination. TRIP TWO: June 30-July 07 They kept my things locked up and I reserved a second stay for one week in Bangkok. Went to get massages, explored the Ari neighborhood, went to the Muay Thai fights with some others from the hostel, had coffee ,burgers, drinks, snacks all right there on the property. You only have to leav for your excursions around town. The dentist I went to, 7/11, spa, it was all within 10 mins. Ultimately the staff: Bo (and the other Bo), Cartoon, Ping Pong, May, and Sky… the whole staff keeps the place clean and organized. The people it attracts as customers were all solid human beings and it feels like summer camp reunion. FIVE STARS

As you walk through the gates of The yard, it seems like you’re stepping to a hostel in Kreuzeberg in Berlin! The vibe is just next level. The place itself is tucked away from hustle and bustle, the staff are super friendly and welcoming- but the atmosphere is very relaxed and laid back. The Yard instantly felt like our home. The place is like a big garden with puffs and tables. As we travelled as a couple we thought it might be complicated when trying to make friends and meet people- but we met some of the coolest and best people from all around the world, the place was social and everyone open to a chit chat. There was a lot of solo travelers especially women which made me feel like the place was safe enough for them to stay there. Our private room without bathroom was perfect, the furniture and especially the bed was so comfy and we were able to sleep well- there was some noise during the night but for a hostel people were quiet and it made a difference. The hostel also offers a smalll breakfast every morning- which was a plus. I loved the eco friendly aspect-were they up cycled everything - and provided reusable towels in the bathrooms instead of paper and locally sourced shower gel and shampoo. I loved it! If you’re hesitating, please don’t, and go for it it.

A fantastic hostel. We stayed in both the dorm and then the private room. Both were fairly small but comfortable with A/C. Bathrooms were clean and well equipped. Highlight was the large courtyard and communal spaces which provided a small oasis in the middle of Bangkok. We utilised the free filtered water and ice, morning yoga classes and enjoyed the breakfasts. The neighbourhood was perfect, slightly quieter with lots of great cafes and close to the sky train. Huge shoutout to the staff who couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful - they even printed some of our travel documents for us free of charge. Would definitely stay again! Thank you!

After my second visit, this is still one of my favorite hostels in the world. The yard (as in, the garden) is beautiful, the staff is very sweet and the vibes are wonderful. Chill and calm, but still really social. It's the kind of hostel where you sit for a couple of minutes and suddenly you're talking about life with six curious souls while petting the cats. And then later you take a tuktuk into Bangkok for a fun night out, and return again to the peace of Ari. 10/10 recommended, I'm sure I'll come again. Thanks guys! :)
