Reviews
Our stay at Chakrabongse Villas was truly memorable. As a couple, we loved the lush greenery and the peaceful riverside setting, which created a relaxing atmosphere throughout our stay. The breakfast by the Chao Phraya River was a wonderful experience, with beautiful views that made each morning special. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the receptionist was especially helpful in arranging a taxi for our next trip, making our travel completely hassle-free. The combination of excellent hospitality, tranquil surroundings, and charming heritage architecture makes this a perfect place for a romantic getaway in Bangkok.
A Fairytale Lost in Time This is far more than a hotel, it was an experience. From the very first moment we arrived, we felt as if we had come back to a place we had always known. The warm welcome was so genuine that we immediately felt we had been eagerly awaited. Every member of the staff made us feel not like guests, but like cherished friends. Everything is thoughtfully prepared with remarkable attention to detail. It often feels as though the staff can anticipate your wishes before you even have to ask. Chakrabongse Villas is a home filled with history, beauty and love. The tropical gardens with their beautiful orchids are enchanting, the rooms are elegant and peaceful, and the Michelin-starred restaurant on the banks of the Chao Phraya River offers not only exceptional cuisine but also one of the most breathtaking views of Wat Arun. Its location is perfect, within easy reach of Bangkok’s most important historical sites, yet peaceful enough to feel like a hidden oasis. Before our journey, I read Katya & the Prince of Siam, written by Narisa Chakrabongse, the Prince’s granddaughter and hotel owner. Knowing the family’s remarkable story made our stay even more meaningful. Walking through the gardens and staying in this historic home felt like stepping into the pages of the book.
A hidden gem in Bangkok - this hotel is owned by the great granddaughter of King Rama V. It is very small (8 rooms) and right on the river. There is so much history there and the staff were able to share some of that with us. The grounds are beautiful and well kept - it has a very Jim Thompson feel. There is a small bookstore attached to it that is very interesting. The staff was very attentive and always available to help - a special shout out to Mochi who helped us with our booking. The breakfasts (excellent) and dinners were served right on the river in a dining room with a spectacular view of Wat Arun which glows beautifully at night. Our last night there we chose to do the set 5 course meal by head Chef Wat who was most delightful. Every dish was excellent!!! We’ve been going to Thailand for over 20 years and it was probably the best meal we’ve ever had. It is walking distance to the Reclining Buddha, Wat Pho, and the Kings Palace. We would definitely stay there again.
I would highly recommend this hotel! I came here for the first time with my mother and stayed for 4 days. My mother had a wonderful time; the food was delicious! Everyone working at the hotel is very kind! I will return every year if I go back to Thailand!
Outstanding. Hidden right on the Chao Phraya and across from the river from Wat Arun. Walking distance the Grand Palace, the Reclining Buddha, and Flower Market. Staff and service were excellent as well as breakfast and the Royal Thai dinner right on the river which was Royal Thai cuisine and very special. The grounds and villas have a very Thai flavor; almost a Jim Thompson feel. We could stayed at The Capella, The Siam, or the Oriental and are glad that we stayed here instead. We felt that we were staying in a small Thai village, albeit a very nice one. The manager (Ohm?) and his assistant were very gracious. Would stay again. A welcomed return to Thailand after over fifty years.
