Absolute gem in Soi Nana! Ba Hao has an incredible, cinematic atmosphere and top-tier cocktails, but what truly sets this place apart is the hospitality. The entire staff was welcoming, attentive, and full of great energy. A special shoutout to Pun, the bartender—not only does he mix phenomenal drinks, but his customer service and vibe made the entire night unforgettable. Highly recommend catching a spot at the bar. Will definitely be back!
Located on a unique, pleasant street in BKK’s Chinatown neighbourhood, Ba Hao focuses on a unique cocktail menu with a series of upscale tapas type asian eats. To my surprise, the majority of the menu is composed of pretty classically implemented Taiwanese dishes with various fusion delights alongside. Food, cocktails, and atmosphere were all top of the line. Prices were quite high but nothing insane mind you. Cocktails go for approx 10USD
The food is heavily Chinese influenced as this restaurant/bar is in Chinatown. It can get quite busy and you might need to wait for a table but we didn’t have to wait too long Most of the more classic items on the menu (dumplings and sesame noodles) were delicious. The cocktails are also pretty good. The only downside is the space inside is small, so most people when we turned up sat outside, so I would only go when it is cool and not too humid (check if you can book a table)
I don’t usually write reviews, but Ba Hao in Bangkok’s Chinatown honestly deserves one. Tucked right into the middle of all the chaos, this place feels like a hidden pocket of calm with character. The space itself is small but super thoughtfully done — kind of that vintage Chinese shophouse vibe, dim lighting, slightly moody but still welcoming. Food-wise, everything I tried was just… solid. Not overhyped, not trying too hard — just really well-executed dishes with bold flavours. You can tell there’s actual care in how everything is put together. The ingredients taste fresh, portions are satisfying, and nothing felt like it was there just for the aesthetic. What stood out the most for me was how balanced everything tasted. Some places in Chinatown go heavy or oily, but Ba Hao manages to keep things rich without being overwhelming. Also, their drinks pair surprisingly well with the food — definitely worth trying something from the bar. Service was friendly and chill, not overly formal but attentive enough that you don’t feel ignored. Overall, it’s the kind of spot I’d come back to, not just to try more dishes, but because the whole experience feels easy and enjoyable. If you’re around Bangkok Chinatown, it’s 100% worth stopping by.
We discovered this trendy-looking restaurant a couple of weeks ago, whilst visiting a neighbouring cocktail bar in Soi Nana in Bangkok's wonderful Chinatown. Ba Hao is a restaurant and cocktail bar. There are tables on the street and inside - we ate inside in the nicely presented main dining room. Unfortunately, they don't have printed menus or tablets. You have to scan a QR code and then try and view their menu on your phone screen. Not ideal and a real turn-off for me. However, the food choices were good and it took us a while to choose: - Tofu Crackers Salsa: Tofu Crackers with Asian Pear Salsa - Stir fried Eggplant with miso garlic: Chinese eggplant stir with homemade miso garlic sauce top with crispy tofu and fresh herbs - Duck wontons: Duck Wontons with Chilli Sesame Oil - Pork Belly Mantou: Chop Braised Pork Belly served with Bun The food was excellent and creative. I really liked the salsa with the crackers - a good mix of flavours. The other three dishes: very tasty and nicely presented. Unfortunately, the service was really impersonal and quite unfriendly and not at all Thai. We felt that they didn't really want to be there - and didn't want us to be there.
