If you have watched old Bangkok movies from the 1950s and want to relive that atmosphere while visiting the city, this place is truly special. It is only a 10-minute taxi ride from Asok, yet it feels like stepping back into another era. The live piano performance is outstanding, and the romantic atmosphere is something very unique in Bangkok. The price? My wife and I enjoyed a full dinner service with appetizers, two main courses, and a bottle of wine for around US$90. For an experience like this, that is a very fair price.
Methavalai Sorndaeng is a true gem in Bangkok that feels like stepping back into a more elegant era of Thailand. The food is absolutely delicious and tastes like authentic "Royal" Thai cuisine—perfectly balanced and meticulously prepared. I highly recommend the signature Crispy Rice Noodles (Mee Krob), the flavorful Crab Meat and Acacia Red Curry, and the refreshing Pomelo Salad. With its classic decor, live 80s-era Thai music, and views of the Democracy Monument, it offers a nostalgic and sophisticated dining experience that definitely earns its Michelin-starred reputation.
Amazing dining experience from start to finish. The food was fresh, tasty, and exceeded my expectations. Portion sizes were generous, and everything arrived hot and well presented. The service was outstanding ,the staff were polite, efficient, and very attentive. Truly a top-quality restaurant. Will definitely return!
Amazing décor — grand, elegant, and full of old-school charm. The service was truly top-notch, warm, and professional from the moment we arrived. We came here to celebrate my 40th birthday, and it was the perfect choice. Made reservation in advanced The food is as authentic as it gets, beautifully cooked and full of flavour.
